"Non-Malay Cannot Become as DPM to FulFill 1Malaysia Concept is for Nation-Building?"

1Malaysia concept is for nation-building, and not for political purposes.

But A Malaysian opposition lawmaker from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) has challenged Prime Minister Najib Razak to appoint a non-Malay Deputy Prime Minister in the spirit of his 1 Malaysia concept, which stresses national unity.

"I dare Najib Razak to appoint a Chinese or Indian Deputy Prime Minister now," Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo told about 800 people at a party fund-raising dinner in Petaling Jaya on Wednesday.

The Utusan Malaysia newspaper claimed two weeks ago that Mr Anwar had promised DAP national adviser Lim Kit Siang the post, prompting a round of denials by opposition leaders. Mr Anwar later clarified that every coalition leader, regardless of race, had a shot at becoming Deputy Prime Minister, so long as there was a consensus among PR component parties.

"Statement of Deputy Prime Minister is a reminder that we not lose sight of the political action and change clothes in 2008 eventually led to the Malays have to pay a high price", Vice-President of UMNO, Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi Said.

N9kini.Com source said, "DAP is the incarnation of the PAP (Singapore) where the fundamental struggle that is not aligned with the PAS. DAP is a Chinese party, established after Singapore left Malaysia. DAP is a party that was formed by the PAP for continuing the struggle with them after they get out of Malaysia. DAP and PAP basic struggle is similar to fighting the Chinese and is a racist party."

"It is for us to come together, for us to feel that we belong to one nation, one people with one vision, and that is for us to march forward together to develop a truly prosperous, harmonious and successful 21st century nation," he said at the Christmas Tea Party hosted by Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur Tan Sri Murphy Pakiam at the Archbishop's residence here.

"A poll of 15,353 respondents showed that 84 per cent regarded it (1Malaysia) as good and will not cause disunity, and acceptance of the concept was 72 per cent," Rais Yatim  told reporters after attending the 1Malaysia Christmas open house hosted by businessman Datuk Seri Vanatiah Anthony and his wife, Datin Seri Elispetoo Sinnappan, at Kampung Baru Sungai Chua here.

1Malaysia is an on-going  programme designed by Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak on September 16, 2008, calling for the cabinet, government agencies, and civil servants to more strongly emphasize ethnic harmony, national unity, and efficient governance with slogan  2009 - People First, Performance Now and 2010 - Generating Transformation.

Prime Minister Najib's efforts to liberalise government policies and create a more open policy towards all races with 1Malaysia led Malay rights group Perkasa to seek further clarification on the policy, as they feared that his   1Malaysia would undermine Malay or Bumiputera rights in favour of minorities in Malaysia.
